I also have to give Missy kudos for her behavior in the kitchen. She is really good while I'm preparing food. Doesn't try to put her paws on the counters (she did at first but hasn't for a while now). She shows an interest but generally isn't under foot. When I'm preparing the dog food she sits patiently and watches. Earlier I showed a picture of her in the crate while I was preparing it. That was only because of her recent spay and I didn't want one of our dogs going after her, generally she is out while were getting the food and she is very well behaved.
This morning my husband was tasked with watching Missy, a task which he doesn't always excel at. So unbeknown to him she had taken my slippers out to the hall for a chew. When he notice her gone he went looking and found her with the slippers. Being experienced foster parents we know to put all footwear in places where the dogs can't get to it when we have a foster in. There is something about the smell of feet that dogs can't resist. So why were these slippers out? They are what I mostly wear around the house and I keep them by my bed at night. Missy has never bothered them at night even though she has free reign of the bedroom. As a result I had stopped putting them away when I wasn't wearing them.
So later on Missy went to pick up a slipper. I "erted" her and she put her paw in the slipper and laid down. Below is the picture of this.
It was so cute the way she put her foot inside the slipper and then lay there that I started laughing. After a short while she started to chew again. I "erted" her again and she took her foot out of the slipper and laid down beside it and gave me the same look. I think it said something like "spoil sport". Unfortunately I had turned my camera off and while I was turning it back on to get the shot she took off because my dogs had run out to the backyard to see who was on the path.
When Missy came back in she laid down and did not try to chew the slippers. She was however facing away from me. Below is her ignoring me and the slippers.
She is so cute and funny that we really do enjoy her antics. Sometimes its hard to be consistent with the training because it is more fun to see what she is going to do.
