We have been so impressed with Missy at night. We started her off sleeping in the crate but after a few days were letting her out. Now we aren't even putting her in the crate at night. When the lights are turned out she quickly settles in a dog bed and goes to sleep. She doesn't get up and make noise or bother us until she hears us moving around and getting ready to get up. Her favorite dog bed is the large rectangular one from Costco that cost about $20. She has three to choose from and she picks this one every time.
Edit: This evening after playing and running outdoors my husband took Missy upstairs to check on closing the windows. Missy went into the guest bedroom and pooped. So were back to the square where she has to be more closely supervised and probably on a leash in the house until she understands to go outdoors. Our mistake was having the basement available early on and not noticing she was using that. We did great with her on pees as we caught her twice, 'uh, oh'd and erted' her out of the house right at the beginning and since then she has always peed outside. We have to do the same thing with the poops so she knows not to use the house. She does try to go as far away from the living area, like choosing the guest bedroom which we don't use, so if we can keep a closer eye out and catch her when she needs to go my guess is we'll have this fixed in one or two tries just like we did with the pees.
